Cultural Heritage Worker

Ngaro Traditional Owners Cultural Heritage Supervisors  

  • Willing to camp on Whitsunday Island overnight for extended periods
  • Suitable level of fitness and ability to walk from the camp site to construction site every day.
  • Has a good level of communication and is willing to work with trail construction contractors as part of the walking trail construction team.
  • Is able to work on a remote island with minimal facilities including minimal fresh water availability
  • Has ability to gain Ngaro Elder endorsement to act as a Ngaro Traditional Owner Representative
  • Has the ability to work in the natural environment including walking through thick vegetation to find trail alignment and cultural sites as required.
  • Has the confidence to communicate issues relating to potential impacts on Ngaro Cultural history to the construction site supervisor, Workforce Manager and DES Project Manager.
  • Is willing to assist with basic laboring duties while on construction site while not undertaking Cultural Supervision
